I would highly suggest Chrono Cross, and Final Fantasy VII, however you already have FF7, so i would put my money on Chrono Cross.

Now everyone could start a debate, or we could just leave it as "yeah, lets not treat it as a Chrono Trigger sequal" deal thing.

As with most people, including Jay.. really enjoy this game.

I suggest FF Tactics. It's the best thing Square put out that's playable on the PS2. If you can take anything by Square-Enix, Star Ocean 2 is a good pick.

FF Anthology has FF5, FF6, and horrendous loading time.
FF Chronicles has FF4, Chrono Trigger, and slightly better loading time.
FF Origins has FF1, FF2, and pretty good loading time.

Seriously, though, you should broaden your horizon. Try Xenosaga, Breath of Fire IV, or something else better than most of the mediocre stuff Square has been producing lately.

Thumbs up

Because it's a PS2, I'll say FFX. Good stuff, there.

I have to say its not bad....but after playing Chrono Trigger I can say it isn't too good either.

Breath of fire series are the good stuff. No flashy FMVs or computer graphics, just pretty good story and gameplay. Though 4 is kinda confusing. DAMBN YOU BOAT SEQUENCE! I waste the remaining time I had on that part of the game cuz I can't drive the boat for ****.

Star Ocean 2 is a good one.

Might I suggest FF Tactics and Xenogears. Xenosaga too. Other good RPGs include .hack// which is my personal favorate.

Thats about it.

Final Fantasty chronicles is pretty hard to find unless you search Amazon or eBay, and get it, because it contains Chrono Trigger, the 2nd best RPG on the SNES (best one obviously being Final Fantasy 6), FFA had bad loading time, but it does have FF6 on it. I'd reccomend FF9, but it's way too easy, if you're up for a challenge, get FF8, it's pretty good anyway, but pretty hard (And if you can picture Ultemecia, then you'll know what my sister looks like). Chrono cross is pretty good, and Xenogears...well, get it if you want it or can find it, I can't find it, and it's STILL on the top ten most wanted used list at my gamestop.

Stay away from Breath of Fire III and Xenogears. Those two games have insane random encounter systems, and both have jumbled up, incoherent stories.

.hack games are really short. There are four of them, each of which costs the same as a normal game. Add the four together, and you get the length of a normal RPG.

Just so you know, aside from FMVs and loading times, the FFA games and FFC games are exactly the same as their SNES counterpart. FFIV is harder than the one on the SNES, but otherwise it's the same. FFO, however, has vastly improved graphics and bug fixes compared to the NES counterparts.

Suikoden 3, Wild Arms 3, and Final Fantasy X are PS2 RPGs should keep you busy for a long time.

I would also recommend Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2, which aren't RPGs but deserve to be played by EVERYBODY.

Ape escape's one of the best games ever, so you should get that before you get Ape Escape II. Xenogears is okay, but I got lost in the storyline. FFX is pretty good, but the Sphere grid, Seymour, Yunalesca, and Tidus's stupidity are the only things against the game. From what I've seen about FFX-2, do not get it.

Legend of Dragoon I hear isn't too shabby. You got your Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2. Eternal Ring, Grandia II and Grandia Extreme. Robot Alchemic Drive isn't an RPG but I got a kick out of it, lemme see...Kingdom Hearts isn't too shabby nor is Legaia 2. Xenosaga too. Star Ocean: Till the End of time.

I again suggest .hack//INFECTION, .hack//MUTATION, and .hack//OUTBREAK. However I suggest you don't buy them all at once. A tad expensive when you buy them all together, around $150 total for all 3.
