In this picture of Chrono Trigger, why is Marle shooting fire?

Isnt she supposed to be controlling ice?

The funny thing is that its official art too...

It could have been artwork drawn before they finalized who gets what magic.

Umm...that's the official box art.

I always figured that it was just a coloring issue.

The pre-final game design is definately possible. They tend to design the box and have it made months before the game is finished.

Also, it could be just that sometimes the art department and the programming department don't work 100% together. It could have been like.

Director: We need such and such a picture for the cover.

Art Person: Okey dokey.

(Months later)

Director: Awesome. Hey, Marle doesn't cast fire.

Art Person: Who cares. Give me money.

It doesn't really look like ice, though.-jay

Indeed, they are casting Arc Impulse, which in the game has Marle shooting Blue/Red energy. Frog is in that position to boost Crono up for a jump attack.

The real question is, what enemy are they fighting in that picture?
