My brother and I were excited about Final Fantasy: Crystal Cronicles; that is, until we discovered that multiplayer required everyone to have a GBA. While we both own Gamecubes, (we don't live in the same house) only I own a GBA, as he opted to just get a Gameboy Player.

Well this situation got us thinking, and after some research I'm pleased to announce that if you don't own two or more GBAs you can substitute another GCN with a gameboy player instead.

As I said, pretty useless. But it will let the 2 of us enjoy the game when it's released.

The only person I'd be able to play it with(he's one of my only friends with a GCN, and he acted liek he was interested in CC) has a GBASP, and I have a GBA. I'll probably play solo most of the time, though.

Wait, wait, wait...

From what I've read, it seems like you HAVE to have at least 2 players to play. Is this true?

What a fault in advertising then! I've yet to read ANYTHING that says one person can play by his/herself. Everything's like, "Play with friends! The first multiplayer FF! Use your GBAs for multiplayer action!"

There is single-player, but I've heard that it's insanely difficult as leveling up takes ages so you have to spend hours just trying to go up one-level. Not to mention that the AI control the crystal cage (or whatever it's called) so you can run into the fog by accident sometimes. I was excited at first, but when I read some of the stuff about it... Sounds like a pretty bad game. Apparently, multiplayer has one player lugging around the crystal cage at the speed of slug, so one player essentially doesn't get to do anything whatsoever except get yelled at for going too slow. That must seriously suck. I think a friend of mine is getting it, they say they aren't (but they seemed to talk about how great it looked immediately afterwards), if the game is bad I'll have fun making fun of him

^I'd most likely wait for a Final Emblem game instead of Final Fantasy: Crystal Cr*p. At least it won't be an insult from Squeenix to Nintendo.

It looks interesting IMO. To my understanding it uses a combat system that's like a cross between the Zelda series and Phantasy Star Online, except for the unique magic system, which varies depending on if you're playing alone or multiplayer.

The bucket can be dropped at any time for the player carrying it to join in, and from the info I've read, the A.I. is nearly flawless at carrying it in the single player mode.

The only thing I dislike is the requirement to use GBA. That's not actually Square's fault though, since Nintendo demanded it as part of their agreement.

Strike One - Final Fantasy XI
Strike Two - Making Yuna a slut
Strike Three - Final Fantasy:CC

The end of Squaresoft is near.

And we won't even get into that Chrono Cross Crap. -jay

I don't see the problems with FF XI or FF:CC that'd be Square's fault. I don't think FF XI should be part of the numerical series, but be like "Final Fantasy: Online" or something. If you're complaing about the pay-to-play thing; please. Square-Enix doesn't have the funds or the resources to have free servers for online gaming. If you don't like it, then don't play it.

As for FF:CC... the Gameboy thing seems to be more like one of Nintendo's zany schemes to whore in more money.

And yeah, Making FF X-2 into a fanservice game was just dumb. The idea of FFX-2 was dumb enough already, heh.

It did look good, I'll admit that. Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Final Fantasy XII had BETTER be good or else I'll just shove my opinion down the toilet and count down the days until I hear more information about the remake of Phantasy Star IV for PS2.

...You HAVE to have a GBA and a link?

I thought the game looked good, too.

Wait until thousands of people buy the game, then try to take it back, saying they didn't know...

So you DON'T need a GBA? Nintendo sucks at advertising.

You need a GBA for multiplayer
The game isn't multi-player only
you don't need a GBA for single player.

Anything else we need re-established?
