FFIX help. ( serious answers needed. )

I'm in Burmecia, and the strategy guide tells me to either open treasure chests or not, and I do, because they don't show maps, but the game freezes when a Mimic uses 'Eat'. Any way to counteract this?

Get a non-crappy disc.

You could try looking at an FAQ. They'll probably tell you which chests don't contain mimics.

Disc cleaner? Might be a tiny crack. My FF8 disc had a crack which forze during the opening FMV, but I used a disc doctor and it fixed it right up.

My copy of Final Fantasy Tactics was defective. Once I got to Orboone Monestary (3rd chapter) It froze up. Every single time I tried it, it froze. I had to throw it out and get a new one that worked better than the Double Sword ability.

Well, the same thing happens in FFVII in the Lifestream when you fight Sephiroth for the last time.

<Me> *waits*
<Game> *bells ringing* *'wrong' sound* *bells ringing* *'wrong' sound* *game resumes*

It likes freezing in the Gelnika and Mideel too, but Mideel and the Lifestream unfreeze easily.
I'll try disc doctor.
