When I first heard of the merger of Square and Enix, I thought: "Hmm, this could be good." Now I realize: "Wait, this might suck."

Have we seen any really great games come from this company since the merger? (Of course, Square's excellence seemed to be ebbing away, and we didn't get too many games from Enix here in the States.)

I am seriously worried. I would hate to see two of the best RPG-producing companies regress to the point of crappy-craptitude.

"Ooh... graphics."

Well, not much has really been done since the merger. Give it time.

And that kicked ASS.

Anyway, I'm not worried - not yet. Nothing has come out of the merger that wasn't there from the start. Wait a little longer....

Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts II still have a farily good chance of being the next Chrono Trigger or FF9.

...Or the next FF7 or FF2. Ugh.

^I can guarantee that none of those games are capable of becoming the next Chrono Trigger.

I haven't played FF7, but you've got to be the first person I have ever heard insult it.

No. Marth does. Very bluntly.

Am I the only one bothered by how people use "it's overrated" as a reason for not liking a game?

...anyway...

I, too, am dubious of whether or not they can cook up another excellent classic. Besides FF:CC. [shifty eyes; hugs FF:CC game and returns to playing]

I'm not sure if it was a GOOD thing, but Square will survive. We've had FFX-2, FFXI, FF:CC, and we will soon have many FF_-_'s.

^^^ A pessimist I see. Well who knows, Final Fantasy XII does obviously stand a chance of being Square-Enix's best 3D RPG since Final Fantasy 9. (Final Fantasy 7 is the single most overrated game of all time, Final Fantasy 8 suffered from major problems but was still great, Final Fantasy Tactics was awesome, Final Fantasy X was mediocre, Final Fantasy X-2 was Tomb Raider meets Charlie's Angles with a plot similar to Calvinball).

Too me. Nothing really new came from it. I mean it sounds as though the companies are merged in name, not in spirit. It still seems there doing there own thing still. Enix making SO3 and such, Square going with FF and such.

Final Fantasy 7 disappointed me even for the time, though the music and the FMV were awesome.
