| Guest Posts: n/a | In case you don't know, The Black Mages are a rock music group who play battle themes from Final Fantasy games in the style of hard rock. They were formed by Nobuo Uematsu (the composer (duh) and keyboardist) early last year, and released an album with 10 songs. The songs are: Battle Scene (FF) Clash on the Big Bridge (FFV) Force Your Way (FFVIII) Battle, Scene II (FFII) The Decisive Battle (FFVI) Battle Theme (FFVI) J-E-N-O-V-A (FFVII) Those Who Fight Further (FFVII) Dancing Mad (FFVI) Fight With Seymour (FFX) I ordered the album on Ebay some time ago, and it arrived today. I've only listened to tracks 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 (they're listed in order above), and I've gotta say that it's one helluva cool album. For all of you Kefka fans out there, Dancing Mad has reached the epitome of awesomeness. From the songs I've listened to, the songs from the pre-Playstation era have had drastic makovers (except for Dancing Mad) due to the fact that they were all too short and didn't sound at all like hard rock songs. The result is quite nice, but not exactly what you'd expect. I reccomend this album to all FF fans out there. If anybody else here has it, post your own comments about this mini-collection. | Guest Posts: n/a | I wanted to post a topic about this! Curses. Yeah, that music is really awesome. I only listened to the two on the site and.... wow. It could be noted that one of the guitarists did a lot of the Brave Fencer Musashi soundtrack. Battle on the Big Bridge = Gilgamesh theme, btw... really awesome. | Guest Posts: n/a | Holy Crap, what a coincidence. I just came accross the Black Mages site for no real reason the other day. I listened to the two songs on their site, and WOW. GIMME. A shame I can only find copies of it on E-bay. I need to buy this as soon as I can. It's just simply awesome. Although I still like Mitsuda's work better, heh.-jay |
