I don't care about that anymore, however I am curious about how you, the viewer, would like the Front page to be. This is to be a 'what-if' topic. Sean can have it as is, add racing stripes, or make it download viruses to people's computers if he wants; I'm just asking what you guys want. Then, maybe, just maybe, when he goes to change it again (as he likes to do) he might look here while doing it, and then he might take these suggestions. Or he might make it purple with racing stripes. But that's what suggestions are all about, right? So, what would you like as front page/which front page was your favorite, design-wise? |

I want the front page to explode, showing Bowser ready to eat you. Also, Sunglasses will be thrown everywhere. |

I believe the current one is decent and to the point. And I agree the true problem is finding something to update every week (though there are definitely some sections that are fixer-uppers) |

| Member | The entire website besides the front page is a fixer-upper. It's stuck in 1995, with tables and animated .GIF's, and HTML and plain white backgrounds and such. Joomla would be such a great option for this site as it makes organizing and displaying this content much more uniform, better laid-out, and generally easier for viewers' use. By flat-out refusing to use it, Sean, you're basically saying that you want SMBHQ to be a fossil. |

It's insulting. I would redesign the whole website if I could. However, truth be told, I am lucky if I have the few hours a week I have to do my (bi-)weekly updates. EDIT: Plus, even if I did want to use Joomla, I'd never be able to install it. Shane controls the server. Last edited by Sean P Kelly; 02-28-2009 at 09:54 PM. |

That leaves him to do it, and he has no time. So, case closed. I made this topic just out of curiosity over what people thought of it and if small tweaks might be a good idea. Ya'know, things like buttons to jump to different parts of the site real quick, or moving an ad. |

Put the updates in tables, maybe splash a little bit more color in the layout... I might be able to make an HTML demo to show what I mean. |

I believe I tried something like that at one point (EDIT: Yep, past main pages had ALL those suggestions). When I was college for computer programming I was told to follow the KISS principle. Keep It Simple Stupid The main page does it's job and I'm no longer bothering with bells and whistles. |

It can then KISS by doing the best it can to follow those principles and do nothing else. But I am sure Sean has had enough about the front page, for when the chance was had to help suggest a functional one, it was squandered by jokes and/or angry "Bring the old one back", thus, we are stuck with this one, whether we like it or not, forever. |
