^Twitter is whatever you make of it.

If you just follow random people, yeah it will suck. However, if you carefully choose who you follow (based on your interests), it can become a very good news source. For instance, over half of the accounts I follow are movie related.

Twitter is a good service for directors, celebrities, and such. Like Sean said, you can learn alot there. In my opinion Twitter is a waste for people who update all day long with stupid stuff like "using the bathroom" or "Getting a nice cool soda," etc. WHO CARES WHAT YOU'RE DOING? Yeah, you get the idea. Twitter sucks for the basic individual, yes. Guess we already established this...

^ A funny thing is that TWIT is the name of a technology podcast (This Week in Technology), which predates Twitter.

In a pseudo-experiment I put a Twitter widget in place of the traditional updates.

The only downside to this is that I can't get the feeds to sync at a rate lower than once every half hour.

Tell me what you think.

Well, I can't see it with my javascript-disabled browser, and I'm unsure if trusting Twitter to be up so people can see SMBHQ news is a good idea, but, it fits just as fine into my layout, broken or working, so I don't really mind either way.
