Question Wow, wierdo bug... Also, Hi!

Hello, there! Currently, I am obsessed with the word "edible" don't worry; not gonna eat ya!

Anyways, i found this wierd bug in SMB 1 today - original ROM.

So, I was in World 1-3. I hit a Koopa Troopa, then fell off the platform. The troopa had almost hit the bottom of the screen (which normally would erase him from view) when I fell on him. He stopped moving, and I bounced up! Just like when NOT falling! I hit him again, and he went bouncing off towards the left of the screen!

Unfortunatly, I was unable to continue further examination, as I died and got a game over. Strange!

But, still, hello. Please be a part of our loving yet somewhat unorthodox community. I'm DarkZero, resident spriter and procrastinator (at the same time, usually).

I've heard of that bug before. It happens in the Super Mario Forever (Frustration) ROM hack.
Welcome aboard, by the way.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Hello, I`m Random User. I`m the random one...?

Anyway, I personally love to find glitches in games, for instance, once in M&L:SS, I was in Queen Bean`s throne room and noticed that when standing at a certain place, Queen Bean will layer over Mario. I laughed, it looked like Mario had his head up her dress.

Welcome.

The best/weirdest glitches I've heard of in SMB were experienced by AI; crazy graphical glitches, mostly. I'll let him explain them. XD

Well, there's not much that can be said - the cartridge needed to be cleaned, so the connector pins were crossing signals. This resulted in the game doing such fantastic things as making Mario's head flap off the back of his neck. During that particular glitch, I recall that the game's timer actually started counting up and then proceeded to count through letters and random graphic fragments as well. There was another occasion where all of the background appeared with green colors, instead of its regular palette, and W's appeared all through the sky. I named that particular graphic glitch the Watrix. I recall during the former playing session that Mario's name was changed to Mevis, and my friends and I henceforth have referred to it as Mevis's bad acid trip.

In an altogether seperate glitch, I was just finishing one of the water levels when a wave of glitchiness passed over the screen from left to right rather quickly. When it was finished, Mario was pushed into the wall at the right near the exit pipe, and couldn't move.

One summer, I was playing Super Mario 64, and fell off of Thwomp's fortress. Then the world glitched, the music became scary glitch noises, and Mario became stuck underwater. He looked like he had half-melted into the floor. Also, the HUD became a garbled mess.

I remember as a five year-old going into a game store called Funco Land (All Funco Land`s became GameStops when EB bought them) to play Super Mario Bros. Only the background was colored a greenish-grayish color, pipes did not appear, and Mario was a bunch of orange stripes floating in the air. When you jump, Mario turned into a ball of orange floaty-thingies spining in circles (similar to how Sonic jumps). I found it hilarious as a kid.
