Interesting proposition. However, the current story had pertained that Mario and Peach were on vacation when the doppelganger showed up. Unless Mario spends his vacations maniacally planning how to make himself the most well-liked man in the entire universe (not in his personality), I'm going to have to dub you false.

I don't think it will be Tatanga, as Mario RPG characters are usually ignored. They're usually only in one game. And Wart was in Mario's dream, so I don't think he will be in any more games. It IS more likely that it will be Wart rather than Tatanga, though.

I AM YOUR FATHER actually came very close. But no plunger. It's not really Mario. It's metal Mario. Yes, it is! How do I know. You [Mario] go on a vatcation with Peach only to find the place covered with strange black goo and the locals think Mario is responsible. Okay, we have a guy running around, looking like Mario, writing grafiti all over the place. And we have mysterious black goo. The goo looks alot like stuff Metal Mario's made of. It's him! Okay now. It's time for me to head back to my time machine. I left on auto and don't want to be left in the past when the game hasn't been released yet.
