well when it was in development Shugi said that Luigi could be considered as an equal star in the game as Mario in the first.

i believe that the second 3D Mario game on nintendo64 was not in any way Mario Sunshine!
i think it had in sonic adventure fassion, some levels for mario and some for Luigi or maybe save level for both.
and the whole Luigi's mansion game was just an extended mini-game in the cart.

since that never made it the turned it to Luigi's mansion and during Cube development they made it a puzzle game, now Mario sunshine...

the World could be easily ripped from the SM64 II game but the whole idea of Water pump wouldnt work on N64 so it would really be a sequel to the SM64.

what do u gyus think about the SM64 II relation to Luigi's Mansion and SM Sunshine?

SM64 2 was put aside by NCL to work on Ocarina of Time. After finishing OOT, the crew was so drained that many projects were canceled. Taking the easy way out, Nintendo figured that they could simply use the same engine as OOT in a different Zelda game. However, the game grew and grew until it took longer than they planned. Zelda Gaiden (Sidequest) grew into its own adventure: Majora`s Mask. By that time, GAMECUBE had already begun development.
