That spiked-shell beast was called Bowser well before he was called King Koopa. I remember the original SMB manual vividly, and in there, his official name was "Bowser, King of the Koopas." He was known as King Koopa only in the cartoons and kid's books.

Ugh, Ok let me go through this,

First off, King Koopa and Bowser are the same person, King Koopa is Bowser's name in japenese. Here's an example:

Secondly, Princess Peach Toadstool and Pauline are two different people as you can see:

See, they're obviously two different people.

AND lastly, Donkey Kong is the same person In the origional Donkey Kong series and the modern version, how could DK have aged so fast, and Mario aged hardly at all. Don't believe me? Read this Super Smash Bros Melee, Donkey Kong Trophy:

i got a letter from nintendo power saying that king koopa has had lots of names like the ones listed and a couple of them are kerog,koopa,king koopa,(I'm not sure about this one) king koopa bowser, and the real name is bowser

Bowser's full name is Bowser Koopa or, more specifically King Bowser Koopa because he is king of all the Koopas.

That is Bowser Koopa as we know him now...

The two DK's are different. believe me. That trophy is wrong. Read the DKC manual. Play the Rareware Donkey Kong games. Arcade DK is Donkey Kong. DKC DK is DK JR. Nintendo can't seem to get this.

Newsflash: NINTENDO MADE DONKEY KONG. Plus, RARE helped with the production of SSBM and Aparrently, RARE didn't say anything about it.

I always thought Bowser was the dragon thingy you fight at the end of the game, and the other guys you fight were Koopas, and Bowser was the king of them.

To settle this once and for all, switch the language in Melee to Japanese and start a normal Classic round of fighting to make it easy and choose Bowser. He is called Koopa in the game. Therefore in Japan and other countries he is KING KOOPA. *pant pant*
