| Guest Posts: n/a | They both have their strong and weak points. Because of the upper range and movement I would say that the gameplay of the new Mario games are better. You can argue, but most of your judgement will be clouded with nastalgia. As for that something missing, it's the power up's. Why can't Mario turn into giant Mario anymore, or shoot fireballs in 3D, or for gods sakes wear the power cape? It's because Nintendo doesn't think it would work in 3D, but it WOULD!!!! They need to bring the power ups back. The newer games don't feel like Mario games, they feel like games that are better than Mario games, but if the power ups were still there, they would be Better Mario games :-D! Shiggy needs to see to it, that the power ups are put back. *steps off soapbox* |

| Guest Posts: n/a | nintendo try to be "different" every time, so there is not really any recycling done on the next games usually. (except few like Majora's Mask compared to Zelda64) So, though FLUDD is kinda ok, i d rather have caps in a MARIO world, not some Sonic Adventure styled place with weird gyus... after all, we NEED koopa troopas, not lame color-goo... |

Because the new "Mario" games are, in reality, almost not Mario games. What we have today are extremely different platformers with Mario plastered on them so that it can be called a Mario game. I'm all for originality, but you can't so drastically change the gameplay that the new games are completely different in style from the previous games. -The Flying Fish --------------- The Flying Fish swim swim hungry swim swim hungry Dwell on the Past | DopefishZone |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Old skool. I love SMB3 and SMRPG too much. They were pretty much perfect. SMB3 had the Koopalings and 8 worlds where you could pretty much always choose your own path to beat the game. SMRPG was a great RPG. Some people say it sucks and its too kiddy but they're lying. Paper Mario was good, but after playing SMRPG, it wasn't that specail anymore. Sure they graphics are cool looking, but they didn't go in depth with the story or characters. And nothing'll ever replace SMB.... |
