Super Mario Sunshine: like it or hate it?

I'm asking this because so many people seemed dissappointed with the game.

I wasn't dissappointed, but the game was kinda short, and there was a little too much emphasis put on blue coin hunting.

I can understand complaints like that, but what's with all the hate for FLUDD? I don't think it hurt the gameplay, it still felt like a Mario game.

Actually, IMO, I think the game felt more like a Mario game at times than SM64. For example, the FLUDDless stages felt like the old linear Mario stages from the 2d games. They would have been better if the look of those areas didn't scream BONUS STAGE or OBSTACLE COURSE or LOOK AT ME, I'M INTENTIONALLY OLD SCHOOL MARIO.

Overall, I think the game was great, and deserves more than the negative reaction it got.

The Fludd-less stages were the best part of the game hands down.

I don't hate the game, just Mario games should be better.

It doesn't seem like a Mario game, that's why I dislike it (And why I like the Fludd-less stages)

The main think that bugged me was that Mario seems to be high on helium.

The only thing that bugged me was having to hunt for all those anoying blue coins.
