It's hard to decide between the two masterpieces, but most people do have a reason. Weather it be the more secrets in SMW, or the wide variety of items in SMB3. So, what is your stance? Personally, I have always liked SMB3 more than SMW. I just thought that the levels and items were better than SMW's were. How can you not like the Mario suits from SMB3? |

SMW just revamped it using new technology. On the other hand, SMW had Yoshi. SMB3 had far more levels, and more diverse ones at that. No ice levels in SMW. SMB3 invented the automatic-scroling stage. SMB3's challenge was above the board. SMW I beat in a day. SMW was so close, however, it hurt. SO close. It's still one of my favorite memories. |

| Guest Posts: n/a | It's basically immpossible to put what makes a side-scroller great into a true 3D game. Yes, you can have the same power-ups, but it won't have the same "feel" as a proper side-scroller. |

Ditto mentioned a lot of things like the innovation and originality, and things like the challenge(SMW was way too easy... with the exception of a few levels, the Special World was the only real challenging area of the game) and more diverse levels/power-ups. SMW just didn't seem to have as much put into the game as SMB3 did, as it took out a lot of the things that made SMB3 great(and as cool as Yoshi and the cape were, they didn't make up for what was missing). SMW's a great game in itself(second best Mario game for me) but as a follow-up to SMB3 it just didn't live up to it's predecessor's overall quality. Close, but not quite there. Although I have to point out that while SMW was lacking in the ice level department, it did have a few in the Special World. Also, didn't we have this debate twice before already? -The Flying Fish ![]() --------------- Dopefish Lives! swim swim hungry swim swim hungry Dwell on the Past | Dopefish Central |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Hmm...hard decision. I would have to say SMB3. It was more challenging (the only thing that i really found challenging in SMW was Valley of Bowser Fortress and Tubular), and it has more levels than SMW. |

| Guest Posts: n/a | Hasen't been any recent ones in this forum anyways. I just checked the avaliable records, (Yeah, I'm pretty bored) and no topics about this. (BTW, they go back to May 15th, 2002) The most recent topic about this I can think of is one that I had at 1-Up Gaming when it had VB forums. I'm pretty sure you visted there TFF. | Guest Posts: n/a | I like SMB3 better because it combined all types of levels, great items and suits, and great challenges! But, there were times where you just got so mad that you threw the controller down! Thats what SMW was for, it gave you a nice game where you didn't have to complain about anything and if you got bored on a day, just play SMW and it will be something you can beat in a day! |
