How was Mario really created? What was the one event that led Shigeru Miyamoto into thinking of creating a plumber who jumps over falling barrels in Donkey Kong?

My thoughts on this are as follows:

One day, Miyamoto was having plumbing problems, so he called a plumbing company called "Mario Bros. Plumbing". For some reason, a plumbing company with Italian plumbers was situated in Japan, so they came to fix the problem. They assessed the problem and said that it will take all day, so the "Mario Bros." brought lunch with them which consisted of.... mushrooms. This got Shigeru's mind going you see..... and Mario was made. The only problem I see with this, is that Nintendo would have probably got sued for doing that........

If someone has a true story on how Shigeru Miyamoto made Mario, PLEASE post it........

If you have a theory, still post it...

Nice theory, but it's far from the truth. Here's a quote from our very own NintendoLand:

Quote:
The main reason Mario looks like he does is that it was easier to make him that way, because of the problem with the low resolution and few colors available on the NES and the early arcade machines. They gave him a mustache instead of a mouth and a cap instead of hair because it was easier to see in the low resolution (and because Shigeru Miyamoto wasn't too good at designing hair). One other thing with the cap was that it was static, which made easier to animate than hair. Mario was gven an overall because then you could see his arms easier when he was moving. The gloves that he sometimes wears, only appeared in the drawed art work, never in the games. This was because of the limited number of colors in the NES and arcade machines could handle and therefore his hands had to be in the same color as his head.
As for his name:

Quote:
When Minoru Arakawa, the president of Nintendo of America in New York, first saw "jumpman" he thought: "Hey! He looks just like the landlord of our office!"; and the landlord´s name was Mario Segali and he came from Italy so that's how it is!

The reason Donkey Kong was created also (The first Mario game) was because Nintendo needed a game to replace the failure of Radarscope in America. Miyamoto was given the task to make a Popeye game, but he lost the lisence. He then thought up Jumpman, later renamed Mario. (Who was a carpenter in Donkey Kong BTW.)

Shigeru Miyamoto was taking a walk. He was going to get some sushi. Two Muggers with hats lable of "M" and "L" had mugged him. They had masked on to make them look like fat plumbers. They talk italian and they had a talk. Mario was trying to stuff a rock in Miyamoto's mouth to prevent him for yelling.
"Hey-a, Luigi! Help-a me do this man-a." And he threw a hard rock into Luigi's head. Luigi had memory loss and said, "Duhh, who-a are you-a?" And their he spoke the famous words: "Luigi, have-a you-a lost your mind-a?" He then took a deep sigh and yelled "IT'S-A ME! MARIO!" Miyamoto been able to run away and he had that idea in his head. "They look like Jumpman...Mario Mario and Luigi Mario! Good god! STOP THE PRESSES!"
And thus, the birth of Mario and Luigi. (Insane, no?)
