| The night is darkest just before the dawn. Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Gotham Gender: Posts: 12,623 Thanks: 726 Thanked 1,135 Times in 598 Posts | Super Mario Character Discussion Topic Since there doesn't appear to be any character discussion topics in this forum, I suppose I'll start. WARNING: THIS THREAD MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. BRING AN EXTRA PAIR OF PANTS. I'll start this round off with Nastasia, from Super Paper Mario. Nastasia ![]() Nastasia appears in Super Paper Mario as Count Bleck's right-hand woman. She's affirmative, punctual, keeps a tight schedule and track of the Count's memos, and speaks with phrases like "K?" (as in OK), as well as saying "uh" and "um" a lot. She wears catseye glasses and her violet hair in a bun. She has powerful mind-controlling abilities. It's revealed (by the bartended Carson in Flopside) that Nastasia was once a bat who accidentally got herself locked in a trap in the woods. A young Count Blumiere, searching for his lost lady-love, Timpani, came across Nastasia and freed her. Ever grateful, Nastasia returned to Blumiere later in the night, having taken on the form of one of the Tribe of Darkness (the race Bleck belongs to), to pledge her eternal loyal to him. She also fell in love with the count and had a crush on him ever since her rescue. In the game, she uses her mind-control powers to force Princess Peach and Bowser to wed, thus creating the Chaos Heart for Count Bleck. She later uses her powers to corrupt Bowser's entire army and even Luigi. As the story progresses, Count Bleck begins to wonder if the Pixl Tippi is indeed Timpani, and Nastasia becomes visibly jealous. At the climax of the game, upon the defeat of Count Bleck, Nastasia takes a near-fatal blast from Dimentio to save the Count. She comes to after The Void has disappeared. Upon hearing from Mimi and O'Chunks of how the Count and Tippi sacrificed themselves to save the worlds, she begins to cry uncontrollably. It is felt that Bleck and Tippi are still alive, however, and Mimi and O'Chunks theorize that they finally created the perfect world the Count had wanted. Nastasia regained her composure. Later, she can be seen wandering on the third floor of Flopside, still left heartbroken by the Count's decision, and claiming that she probably never could have measured up to Lady Timpani anyways. Discussion: I loved Nastasia in the game, if not for her way of speaking, k, it was for how she helped bring actual sadness into a Mario game. You really get to feel her heartache for Bleck, especially after the game ends. Kind of makes me wish there was some side-quest to cheer her up. She made for a very interesting character. Thoughts? |

| He's coming for you... | Nastasia is one of my favorite characters in Paper Mario. "It was for how she helped bring actual sadness into a Mario game. You really get to feel her heartache for Bleck, especially after the game ends. Kind of makes me wish there was some side-quest to cheer her up. She made for a very interesting character." I COMPLETLY agree with this statement. |
