| KICK, PUNCH, IT'S ALL IN YOUR MIND Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Either UN's bed or Andre's bed. Gender: Posts: 13,965 Thanks: 982 Thanked 1,691 Times in 809 Posts | Who Wants to be a Marioniare v4.00 by Valigarmander Game Overview Anyone who has played this game before should have no problem remembering the rules. Basically, this is a Super Mario-themed quiz gameshow. Each player is given a series of questions to answer, and each correct one awards a cash prize (vbPoints). This game is meant to both test your knowledge of the Marioverse, and fill your pockets with gold coins. Each question has four possible answers. The player must choose the correct answer, or the answer that best meets the question. If he/she does so correctly, then he/she will win a small amount of money and move onto the next round. If the player answers incorrectly, he/she will lose one lifeline and be forced to take a different question again. Once the player is unable to lose anymore lifelines, he/she is kicked out of the game. The player starts the game with 1 lifeline, meaning they can fail only twice unless another lifeline is purchased. At the beginning of the game, the player will receive 50 points to spend as they please, or to keep. Two games will be run at the same time. Sometimes, the players will be asked to interact with one another, but for the most part, the competitions remain separate. When a player loses a game, they will receive their prize, and the next player in line will take their place, starting from the beginning. The goal of the game is to get as far as you can, and to get as much cash for yourself as you can. But the most important rule of all: have a good time. Disobey that and you’re disqualified. ![]() Difficulty Levels Throughout the game there are a total of five different difficulties, ranging from the very easy to the very challenging. The difficulty steadily increases as you progress through the questions. There are five difficulty levels: Beginner (1-5): These questions revolve around basic knowledge that any Mario fan should recognize. Advanced (6-10): Advanced questions are a bit more difficult to answer. They cover a wider area of trivia. Veteran (11-15): The Veteran questions should only come at ease to those who have a lot of experience playing Mario games. Expert (16-20): Expert questions center some of the toughest, little-known facts in the Marioverse. Don’t blame yourself if you can’t get far here. Ace (21-?): God help you with these ones. Each progressive difficulty level provides a new tier of questions to answer, more difficult than the last, but it also grants you larger cash prizes. The value of items also increases, so use your money wisely. The prize awarded for answering a question correctly is as follows: Q# Prize Max Total 1 25 25 2 50 75 3 75 150 4 100 250 5 125 375 6 150 525 7 200 725 8 250 975 9 300 1275 10 350 1625 11 375 2000 12 500 2500 13 625 3125 14 750 3875 15 875 4750 16 1000 5750 17 1250 7000 18 1500 8500 19 1750 10250 20 2000 12250 21 2500 14750 22 3000 17750 23 3500 21250 24 4000 25250 25 4500 29750 26+ 5000 ? As you can see, the potential amount of cash you can earn in this game is very high. However, I as gamemaster have no intention to pay you that much, so as you would suspect the questions get increasingly more difficult as the payoff gets fatter. Freebies What are freebies? Freebies are neat little tools that you can use at any time during a question. Using one will skip the current question and move you forward to the next. You will not win any money for skipping a question, but it will push you forward and can let you bypass a question otherwise too difficult for you to answer. Using a freebie depletes it. You can purchase more at the shop. Items A brand new feature in this edition of Who Wants to be a Marioniare is items. The player can now choose to purchase items whenever they become available! Each different item has its own cost and effect, so keep this in mind. Mushroom. Costs 20 coins per level. While you have this item, if you answer a question incorrectly, it allows you to have another go at the same question without penalty (minus the answer you got incorrect). A Mushroom can't be used on a question if a Psychopath or a Fire Flower has already been used on it. No more than one Mushroom may be used per question. Psychopath. Costs 20 coins per level. Use during a question to reveal a hint towards the answer. A Psychopath can't be used on a question if a Fire Flower has already been used on it. No more than one Psychopath may be used per question. Fire Flower. Costs 40 coins per level. Use during a question to have two of the wrong answers eliminated. A Fire Flower can't be used on a question if a Psychopath has already been used on it. No more than one Fire Flower may be used per question. Kuribo’s Shoe. Costs 40 coins per level. Use during a question to have the current question swapped out for a different one of the same difficulty. Starman. Costs 80 coins per level. Used on purchase. Grants one extra Freebie. 1-Up Mushroom. Costs 80 coins per level. Used on purchase. Grants one extra Life. The item shop opens to the contestant at the beginning of the game, and every 5 questions after that. They can use whatever money they have to purchase up to three items, or they can choose not to. Items cannot be sold back to the shop or traded with other players, they must be used. Countdown Bob-omb & Duels Yet another brand new feature to this version of Who Wants to be a Marioniare is the Countdown Bob-omb. This fellow is featured at the top of each of my posts for the players to see. It starts at the number 20, and counts down by one for each correct answer either player makes. Once it reaches 0, the regular game is halted and a duel begins. If only one person is playing, there will be no duel and the counter will reset to 20. ![]() In a duel, the two players are given the same question to answer, although it is different than the other questions in the game. The match is played sort of like hangman: a hint is given and the players take turns guessing letters to fill in the empty spaces. The winner is the person who guesses the word or phrase correctly. A player has one opportunity to attempt to guess the phrase entirely. If they can do so, they win the duel. If they get it wrong, then they automatically lose. Also, unlike in the main segment of the game, a player has only 24 hours to respond. If a player fails to respond by then, he/she will automatically lose the duel. The prize for winning a duel is half of the losing party’s current coins. After the match, both players move onto their next question (or their current one if only one player had advanced before the duel), and the Countdown Bob-omb resets to 20. There is no getting out of a duel. Idleness & Disqualification Marioniare is a forum game and as such won’t be a hot one. From the time that the question is asked (to the exact minute), the player has exactly two days (48 hours) to give an answer. If the player fails to provide an answer within that time for any reason, he/she will be disqualified from the game, no exceptions. Other grounds for disqualification could be flaming, spamming the topic, shouting out answers, teaming up, cheating, or belligerent or abusive behavior. This goes for active players and other people in the topic (people on the waiting list, spectators, etc.). Repeated offenses can lead to a permanent ban from attending the game. Play nice, everyone. Dropping Out Alternatively, a player can choose to drop out of the game on his or her own free will. Players who decide to do so will not be penalized and will still receive their winnings. Honors & Medals Aside from the point prize, players can receive other awards for doing well in the game. A Top Five list is kept always, showing the highest-ranking players of all time. Another possible reward for playing is a medal. In order to be eligible to receive a medal, you must be past at least Question 10. There are five possible medals you can win, which will be sent to you as a gift. Highest Ranking Medal. Got a higher rank than any other player. Biggest Prize Medal. Won more money than any other player. Biggest Spender Medal. Spent more money on items than any other player. Duelist Medal. Won at least one duel. Itemless Medal. Did not use or purchase any items. The Final Word Alright, having read all that crap you are now very ready to play. You can request a spot in this topic, and you can also take it back if you decide so. Two games will be run at the same time, so two people can play at once. A Waiting List will be formed for additional players so they can have their turn once one of the active players drops out. Now… get ready, and who wants to play!? |

This makes them Mario Mario and Luigi Mario. This has been confirmed by Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario Bros.
