Being able to play as Mario/Luigi/Peach/Bowser whatever would be horribly stupid.

The races would probably be more generic, although you would see those guys for quests.

-Toads
-Goombas
-Koopas (/Magikoopas)
-Shy Guys (Maybe Snifits)
-Boos

And they'd probably put those two races from Sunshine in, although I hate both of them.

I think they should have Moles as well. They would be the equivalent to Dwarves.

And the Mo race form the Dry Dry Desert would be cool.

Other things you could play as would be Bob-ombs, Yoshis, or Duplighosts.

The Thieves characters could be the Bandits from Paper Mario, or maybe bring back Croco and his Race.
