Gender: Posts: 12,595 Thanks: 573 Thanked 962 Times in 648 Posts | ^That's what I'm talking about - of course, Ganondorf probably is just mocking when he says "princess", as he's taken over. But still, in TP, isn't she known as "princess," or am I misremembering that? And the King is dead after Ganondorf attacks in OoT - I think if you speak with one of the soldiers on your way to the temple, he says so. Last edited by ZeldaGirl; 07-20-2008 at 07:24 PM. | Senior Member | Ah, I guess I never spoke to that soldier. I think she was a Princess in TP too. My guess about the whole thing is that neither of them have been named "queen" yet. Or something. |

Some places, you need to be a certain age before they can crown you, whereas some cultures allow even children to take the throne. Peach and Toadstool were different enough to warrant disapproval when the change was implemented. Toadstool was a completely different woman (personality-wise) because there were a large amount of comics and cartoons created. Just as the Yoshi of today is "baby" Yoshi, rather than the real adult Yoshi you saw in Maro World. Yoshi had a different personality back then, also. He isn't the same Yoshi anymore, and it's for the worse. |

And there was originally one particular of the mushroom people named Toad, but they are now all referred to as Toads. The Yoshis that make the cute sounds and have rounded, shrunken models in Yoshi Story are specifically stated in game to be baby yoshis. Nintendo has since given that game's model precedence over the entire race, despite the game's unpopularity. It first occurred in Super Smash Bros. as a nod to the most recent Yoshi game, but was repeated in Sunshine and the sports games without regard to the original design. Tazy, I don't like it when things change for the worse, or frivolously. Would you like it if I came into your house and moved everything to a different place? The "Princess Zelda" phenomenon is pretty obvious in the sense that it was decreed by the first Zelda's brother, after she was cursed by a wizard, that every princess in that lineage should be named Zelda. There is a standard timeline for the earliest games that immediately determines the instance of many different Links and Zeldas, and every game takes place before that Princess has assumed rulership over the kingdom. And the typical fairy tale damsel in distress was usually a princess, not a queen. And as for the name...? Well, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe and the Super Mario Advance series referred to the Princess as Peach, although in the original versions of the games, she was called "Toadstool". SM64 and SM64DS refer to her as Peach AND Toadstool. Personally, I usually call her "Princess Toadstool", because I like the sound of it better. Last edited by Dr. Furball; 07-24-2008 at 10:44 AM. |

| Senior Member | My theory is that, while there is a king, he allows his daughter the same monarchial power as himself. This has actually happened in some countries. |
