I beat Super Mario 64 again.

It's been a while, but I started yesterday morning, beat the game today with 120 stars. Just about 8 hours of gameplay.

Mmmyep.

I still haven't beaten it, after probably 12-16 hours.

Platformers, especially Mario, are not my specialty. >_>

Best Mario game ever.

It takes me 4 hours at most to beat it. I'm that obsessed. I know almost every major glitch, how to beat the game with 16 stars in under 20 minutes, and almost hold a couple world records.

*cough* Sorry.

I can never complete everything in a game.

Except maybe Castlevania games.

HOLY CRAP. I just beat this game this week too! Started at night and finished the next evening.

I really do miss this game, I wish they would make another like it(though I shouldn't say this since I only played galaxy once). Unfortunately, It was also much shorter than I thought.

Oh well, for the time it lasted it was awesome. Wall jumps are win, especially the rainbow ride blue coin challenge.

Nice. Why did you need 16 stars though? I can understand if you needed 8 to get access into the first Bowser stage. If you're using the long jump stair trick(whatever it's called) then I'm assuming you're breaching the 30 star door in the basement(I think it's 30). You probably have to collect the star from Bowser's sub in Dire Dire Docks which I would think made 9 stars. And then breach the final 2 star doors with the long jump stair trick.

Unless the 2nd star door is only 15 stars?

This video is actually what got me to play this game again. It's really interesting also watching the older versions of speed runs to find the subtle differences people perform these glitches and tricks to beat the game too.

Anyway, I didn't play cause of a speed run, I just remembered how awesome this game was and decided to beat it again.

I am pretty sure if you do all the glitches, you can beat it with 1, in like 10 minutes.

Uh ... It says it's tool assisted, but I don't really know what that means. If you read the description, it doesn't sound like something bad, but then a lot of people are generally turned off by Tool-Assisted Speed Runs, so correct me if I'm wrong.

It means they're using AR or GS. Usually to get increased speed, longer jumps, etc.

Oh, so it's possible to beat it with 1 star, but not that fast?

I still find the video really amazing, especially Bowser Level 2.

You guys need to research before you post ancient stuff like this.

Currently, you don't even need 1 star if you use the glitches correctly. Of course, TAS (tool assisted speedrun) allows, using an emulator, the game to be pushed to its limits. Using savestates and frame advance. Anyway, look it up. You can't beat the game in less than 16 stars on an actual console (unless you're a machine and can press A 15 times a second).

The 16 stars come from the 8 required to get into bowser, 15 required to get MIPS (the bunny), and 1 required to unlock bowser 2. Then glitches (BLJs) allow you to skip all the other crap.
