Thumbs up

Naturally it would have new levels, new items, new enemies, etc, just like New SMB did. It would just stay true to the soul of the original game; Mario, Luigi, Toad, and the Princess would be the playable characters and have the same differences in abilities, Wart would be the villain, there'd be veggies everywhere, etc.

Perhaps this style of gameplay could make it's triumphant return in Waluigi Land.

Sounds good to me.

^ I think Waluigi needs more attention so he can pop up in SSB4.

That being said, the other NSMB didn't really use much of the original music so your milage may vary.

Just drop it, we don't need the topic getting derailed into everyone Vs. IRHP again.

I'm still debating about wheather to get SPM or NSMBW next, stupid limited budget.

^ Super Paper Mario if you don't have lots of friends around that can play with you.

That's how I see it. I enjoyed SPM a lot, no question about that. It's a little easy(except the sidequests), but a lot of fun.

I've got sevrel friends that enjoy video games but they prefer Gears of War, Fallout 3, ( I've heard that's rather good though.), Bioshock and Halo 3 to The wii games I intend to get, though I doubt they would object to Wii sports or Wii Sports Resourt.

I'll think on the debate for a few more days then deside.

Personally, I didn't care much for Super Paper Mario. Not that I'm saying it's a bad game. It just didn't hit my sweet spot, and that's incredibly rare where Mario games are concerned.

^ Me neither. It tries to be both an RPG and a Platformer, and doesn't do very well at either.

Well, Super Paper Mario isn't the same thing because it's not a turn-based RPG. It's a straight action-platformer with a few RPG-ish elements (like level-building) and a rather gimmicky and tiresome mechanic that lets you turn the environment temporarily 3-D.

It won't be the same experience as Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, by a long shot. However, if you liked that game, you should definitely play the original Paper Mario for N64. If you don't have an N64, the game is available on the Wii Virtual Console.

PM:TTYD was probably the best in the series. I liked SPM quite a bit more than PM, though.

All of the Paper Mario games are pretty good, in my opinion. SPM is kinda shortish, though. Entertaining, but short.

What about the writing of SPM? Much as I love a good old fashioned 2D turn-based romp I can let that slip if it's got a good story.

Yeah I never had a N64 thus missing out on some very good games I fully intend to see if OoT is as good as it's uber overshadowing of ALttP makes it out to be. I mean really considering all the hype that OoT get's you'd think that Apple's iPhone was just a pale immatation.

Super Paper Mario does have a pretty good story. I'll give it that.

I didn't like SPM. I would've liked it better if it stayed like the first two, instead of being all side scroller.

Well cool hopefully it'll still have some really funny Moments too.

Will it live up to the hype though? Of the two Zelda games I own ALttP and Wind Waker I'd say that the former is my favoret.

Also sorry that I derailed the topic.

A Link to the Past is an awesome game. I'd still have to call it second best behind Ocarina of Time, however.

As you say you've never had an N64, here's my recommendations from the titles available on the VC:

Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Paper Mario
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask

I'd also recommend Kirby 64 if you like Kirby's classic side-scrollers, and Wave Race 64 if competitive jet ski racing is your thing. Don't get Yoshi's Story if you're expecting an experience equal to Yoshi's Island, though. You'll be disappointed.

SPM had one of the best stories in the series (if not the best), and definitely a lot of the funniest moments. There are quite a few I can remember.
