New Super Mario Bros. Wii Press Conference Impressions - Preview GameSpot E3 2009

Today at E3, Nintendo announced (along with SMG2) that they are making a sequel to the Nintendo DS New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii, to be released holiday season this year. The game will support up to four players at a time (Mario and Luigi, plus two Toads) as they battle the forces of Bowser and, after such a long hiatus, his seven Koopalings.

The game features a bunch of new items and abilities, including a penguin suit which freezes enemies, and of course the loveable Yoshi.

I can't wait for this. The 4-player Co-op is a great addition to an already great idea of bringing back more Mario side-scrolling goodness.

The two toads don't make ANY sense to me right now, but maybe it'll make more sense as more stuff is leaked.

^ Yeah, using two toads instead of Pincess Peach and Toad (SMB 2 style) is a mistake. The characters are identifiable, and would work for gamers and for the nostalgic.

And, wow, the graphics are damn good.

^Peach is probably going to be jailed up, though. And the color red is covered by Mario.

As cool as Mario is, I'd like to play as Blue Toad in Single-Player.

Okay, so I didn't know about the Koopa Kids until I entered this topic, and all I can say is YES!!

Also, I hope they didn't show us all the characters. There had better be unlockables, because with all of the characters in the Mario Universe, the best they can give us are multicolored Toads? I'm looking forward to more info about that in the future.

Does this game scream "SMB: Four Swords Adventures" to anyone else?

Someone on Gamespot said something along those lines.

Also, if no one can give me a good reason why Waluigi sucks (other than that he's filler character, I've heard that dozens of times), then I have to assume you have no good reason, and just aren't keeping a very open mind about it.

Change of pace. Also, I like the color Blue.

Waluigi is ugly and I don't like the color purple. Also, his tallness makes me feel sensitive to my height and if you take this sentence of the post with a straight face you are lame.
