He hasn't done much adventuring since, but he's remained a staple of the Mario franchise, and a frequently recurring member of Mario's supporting cast. He often provides helpful items or advice during Mario's adventures, serves as the Master of Ceremonies throughout much of the Mario Party series, and has been a playable character in nearly all of Mario's Kart and sports titles. Starting with Paper Mario, "Toad" has also been the name Nintendo has assigned to the fungus-like residents of the Mushroom Kingdom as a whole. (In context: Mario can't hear himself think because a bunch of stupid Toads are wailing their fool heads off about how all is lost if Mario can't rescue Princess Toadstool. Honestly, will you helpless simpletons just shut up already? When has Mario not saved the Princess? Sheesh!) Toad was also one of the main characters on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show and The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. In 1993's Super Mario Bros. feature film, Toad was represented as a rebellious street musician who was arrested and transformed into a Goomba as punishment for bad-mouthing King Koopa. |

Or do they not count as Toad specifically? |
