Our last installment saw the war for supremacy amongst the four Mario characters who were playable in the original Super Smash Bros. for N64. Now we're following up on that with a battle between the other four Mario characters in Brawl (there are eight in all) who came along in later installments. That would be............................

Wow, I thought Luigi would just spam fireballs in the Negative Zone; did one of the system updates improve the CPU performance somehow?

He did spend most of the time throwing fireballs, but then he headbutted Yoshi right on the nose just as the Negative Zone was dissipating.

Okay, here's the wild and wacky results:

The stage, selected randomly, is WarioWare, Inc. This ought to be interesting.

It starts off looking as though Bowser is going to go after Peach while Wario and Diddy pair off, but the action soon dissolves into utter chaos, with everybody whaling on everybody. Bowser slams into the rest of the group with his spinning shell attack, and fires off some rapid shots from a Super Scope. The "Dodge the giant foot" microgame begins, and Bowser and Diddy both get stomped into the ground, while Peach is rewarded for her evasiveness with temporary invincibility. (Wario, who also dodged the foot, gets shafted.) A Smash Ball appears and Wario gets it. He turns into Warioman and KO's both Bowser and Diddy with the greatest of ease. (Bowser -1, Diddy -1)

The "Stay dry!" microgame begins. Bowser manages to keep his big ass tucked under that umbrella, and is rewarded with Super Mushroom-like growth. He then KO's Peach with a simple backhand. (Peach -1)

It's another big, chaotic brawl between the four combatants, during which everyone's damage rises considerably. Then Peach releases a Hammer Brother from an Assist Trophy. The "sidestep the spears" microgame begins, and the incoming spears detonate a Blast Box, KO'ing both Bowser and Diddy. (Bowser -2, Diddy -2)

When Bowser and Diddy return, the four combatants all migrate to the right edge of the stage. Wario, his damage at a high 157%, gets beaten silly and dumped off the screen. (Wario -1)

Lots more scuffling, then Jimmy T. appears and tells everybody to taunt. Bowser does so, and is rewarded with invincibility. Diddy gets KO'd for the final time by..........somebody. (Diddy -3)

The "Chisel it!" microgame begins, but no one gets the job done. Wario does KO Peach with a Smash Attack, however. (Peach -2)

A Smash Ball appears. Wario gets it, but Bowser nails him an instant later and knocks it out of him. Wario, undaunted, goes for it again, gets it, and transforms into Warioman without wasting anymore time. He's not messing around anymore. He KO's Bowser with a flying kick, then KO's Peach with a bodyslam immediately afterwards.

WINNER: WARIO
