Cool Game of the Week #13

Super Mario World (Super NES, 1991)

Especially notable for providing the debut of Yoshi, Mario's first Super NES adventure enjoyed the unenviable responsibility of living up to the legacy of the previous year's Super Mario Bros. 3. A daunting prospect indeed, but SMW passed the test with flying colors, expanding upon the awesome ideas introduced by its predecessor. Huge, colorful, and insanely fun, SMW went on to become the Super NES system's all-time best-seller with twenty million copies sold (granted, it was a pack-in title, but come on, everybody would have bought it anyway).

The game was re-released for the GBA in 2002.
