The object of the game is for the player (taking on the role of Chef Mario) to line up rows of identical cookies in order to clear them off the screen. It's kind of like working a single side of a Rubik's Cube, if Rubik's Cubes were delicious. It was released in 1992 for the NES and Game Boy, then two years later for the Super NES. It was also included in the Japan-only compilation Nintendo Puzzle Collection (along with Dr. Mario and Panel de Pon) for GameCube. Though something of a footnote in Mario's vast and colorful history, Yoshi's Cookie has influenced other titles in the franchise. Indeed elements of Yoshi's Cookie have since made their way into Super Mario RPG, Game & Watch Gallery 3, and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Yoshi's Cookie is available for download from the Wii Virtual Console for 500 Wii Points. Fun for both one or two players, a puzzle fan could do worse than give it a try.
