Is Luigi's Final Smash based on the Mario Bros. glitch level?

I suppose this could also be posted in the Super Smash Bros. forum as well, but this is specifically about Luigi's role in the game and his final move possibly being an allusion to an early Mario game.

The Negative Zone is basically a swell of negative energy, supposedly an allusion to when Luigi faced being evil while in Mario's Shadow, like from Super Paper Mario. But . . . I also know there is a Negative World (Zone) in the very first Mario Bros. game, World -1. It was a glitchy level with no escape, just like Luigi's move causes the other characters to glitch horribly, unable to control themselves.

Could it be the glitch-inducing Negative Zone may be an allusion to the glitchy World -1 from the Mario Bros. game?

It, in fact, may be an allusion to the Famicom version, where the negative level series is filled with increasingly trippy insanity (underwater princess clones, the castle underwater, etc.)

Well, if you play any of the old GameBoy Games on a GameBoy Color, if you press B+Right when you start it up, it inverts colors...

Ofcourse, if you press any combination of A/B+D-Pad the colors would change so...

It's based off of Dio Brando's special attack.

Wry?

^ From the manga JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It's a long story.

Something that's always concerned me is that the US version of Brawl mentions that the Negative Zone is a result of Luigi's supposed resent from being in Mario's shadow in the Final Smash's trophy description, but the European version of the game leaves this out.

I suppose America likes putting angst into certain characters. They eat that **** up.

I think the 'angrier' Kirby boxarts are a good enough sign of that.

I never put all the pieces of the puzzle together, so I just realized that you're completely right. Nice observation.

It's all the pent up angst energy from being player 2 for so long, released into one burst.

And by angst, I mean awesomely nawesomely good sunny time.

Can someone explain to me this: being in Mario's shadow causes Luigi to create a large green circle and dance uncontrollably?

Does anyone else notice that when Luigi uses the Negative Zone it sounds like he's chanting "Fal-co Fal-co Fal-co"?

^^^^It's negative energy being released.

^^^He doesn't say anything.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
