(NES, 1985) Latest Appearance: New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii, 2009) A sentient projectile with a malevolent grin (and alternately depicted with or without little arms at its sides), Bullet Bill has menaced Mario in nearly all of the plucky plumber's adventures. Fired from cannons, Bullet Bills zip single-mindedly through the air on a straight trajectory for enemies of King Bowser. Bullet Bill appears as an item in Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii. If a player gains a Bullet Bill from an Item Box, the player can then transform temporarily into a Bullet Bill and blaze forward at increased speed, smashing straight through anybody who gets in their way. Alternate versions of Bullet Bill include the gargantuan Banzai Bill, the heat-seeking Missile Bill, and the underwater Torpedo Ted. |

Although in Mario Kart Double Dash it was the Chain Chomps who did the whole "rush the player up towards the line" right? Bullet Bills were cool, although I remember Torpedo Teds being a favorite of Super Mario World ROM Hackers, despite the fact they only appear in one stage in the actual game.

I read that the Chain Chomp was considered for inclusion as a regular item in subsequent Mario Kart games, but was replaced by Bullet Bill instead.
