However, out of curiosity I did start looking up the games "Plus Mode" featuring Luigi, instead of Mario, as the game's title character. To be more precise, I was especially curious about what happens when normally Luigi would be featured, like the Luigi Stars, and Luigi and the Haunted Mansion . . . well I looked it up, and was surprised to discover this: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have to admit, I am more than a little dissapointed that the designers actually decided instead of removing the Luigi model for the Mario model, they just left Luigi there to create a Time Paradox with himself. Its a little amusing, I admit, to see Luigi's reaction to being saved by . . . himself, but after the initial amusement it just seems like laziness on the programmer's part. Seriously, would it have been that hard to have put Mario's model there instead? They've already changed the dialogue slightly, and it would have been a trip to see Mario being saved by Luigi, or seeing Mario in the background playing second banana when Luigi gets a "Mario" Star. Honestly, I am dissapointed to discover they didn't go the extra effort, one way or another. Sure, I would have preferred if they had taken the time to put Mario in Luigi's place, but even if they were going to leave it as they did, they could have made the extra effort to make it a bit more surreal, instead of "Oh hey, I am being saved by . . . me. Neat!" Like its an everyday occurance to just run into yourself . . . ok, maaaaaybe that does happen in the Mario universe sometimes, but still, I think my point remains valid. Whether switching roles or leaving Luigi to save himself, they should have pushed it a little farther, I mean come on, to even get this far we'd have had to collect some 120-150 odd stars and already beaten the game once, a little extra effort for games that dedicated would have been nice. |

This whole "reward for beating the game as Mario" thing is starting to sound less and less worth it. | |

I mean, sure, Luigi has interacted with Baby Luigi before, but this is just laziness on the programmer's part, in my opinion. |

That'd be an issue if they just swapped NPC Luigi with Mario. It also wouldn't be natural to see Mario clinging to a tree to hide from a bug, or to be caught in other Luigi-ish situations. Another thing, the difference in size between playable Luigi and NPC Luigi isn't that great, as you can see. The whole thing was probably done to minimize the extra changes they'd have to throw in with this bonus mode of play. They made a joke out of the two Luigis encountering each other, as well. |
