(Wii, 2008) The female leader of the Brown Sugar Pirates, Captain Syrup plunders and pillages far and wide, and makes Kitchen Island her base of operations. She is often at odds with Wario, as the two treasure hunters seek endlessly to rob each other. Captain Syrup appeared for the first time in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, in which she was seen ransoming a golden statue of Princess Toadstool to the Mushroom Kingdom. Wario arrived on Kitchen Island and attempted to steal this valuable statue for himself. Upon confronting Captain Syrup in her castle, Wario was forced to do battle with the pirate queen's magic Genie. Captain Syrup returned with a vengeance in 1998's Wario Land 2, in which she gave Wario a taste of his own medicine; she and her pirates ransacked Wario's castle and stole his treasure, and, just to add insult to injury, they left the water running. After a full decade of absence, Captain Syrup finally put in her third appearance in 2008's Wario Land: Shake It! In this game, she actually allied herself with Wario to an extent, although she betrayed him in the end (gee, who could have seen that coming?). |
