Luigi's Mansion Sequel in the Works? at C3 News

Rumours are flying around, after Nintendo has filed a new trademark for Luigi's Mansion. What makes this strange is that Nintendo already owns the trademark, from Luigi's outing on the Gamecube.

Speculation has it that this could just be a New Play Control! version of the game or indeed it could be a sequel. Either way, it will be interesting to see how Nintendo handles it and whether we'll be using the Wii Remote to control it.

Maybe if they do make a sequal, they will finally make a Luigi game where they don't need to have Mario kidnapped to justify Luigi's solo performance!

Heh, maybe they should do the same thing they did in that Justice League Unlimited episode, "Greatest Story Never Told" and while Mario and everyone are fighting super Bowser or something, like Mushroom apocalypse, Luigi has his own little side advanture while the big bedlum goes on in the background. You'll be playing Luigi in his own mission while Giant Bowser stomps on the Mushroom Kingdom in the background, with camoes by character from MRPG, PM, SPM, everyone, just to add to comedy factor, only in the end for Luigi to have saved the world . . . but no one believes him.

I've always thought that if there was a Luigi's Mansion sequel, that it should focus more on horror. Sure, the Mario series is supposed to be geared towards children, but even kids enjoy getting scared once in a while. As long as they kept the violence down, I'm sure that Nintendo could make a scary game without two much dissention from the Mario series.

At least I think so. Luigi could have a totally different game >_>

Spin offs deviating from the normal Mario formula have worked before, look at the Mario Land or Paper Mario series.

I didn't mean "dissention" in Playing style, so much as I mean the atmosphere. It's just that you can only have a game be so different before the game becomes a completly different entity and is just a game with Luigi shoved in haphazardly.
