All I can say is I'm sorry and hope to keep on it in the future!) Mini Mushroom First Appearance: Mario Party 4 (2002, GC) Latest Appearance: New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii, 2009) Normally when you think of Mario power-ups, you think of Mario getting larger, shooting fireballs, growing a raccoon tail, but sometimes its necessary instead of powering up, you need to power down, thus this week we look at the anti-Super Mushroom, the Mini Mushroom! First appearing in Mario Party 4, as one would expect, the effects of the Mini Mushroom turns Mario into Mini Mario, even tinier then Small Mario, and allows Mario several new abilities, ones of the most obvious is it alllows Mini Mario to fit into small holes and narrow warp pipes, granting him access to new secrets that would normally by out of a larger Mario's reach. In addition to slipping into tight spaces, Mini Mario is also much lighter then any of his larger fire spitting or tail spinning counterparts, allowing him in jump higher and even hang in the air with a floaty jump, as well as being able to run faster thanks to a lower air resistance, walk across thin ice without breaking it, and even run across the surface of water without sinking in! The biggest drawbacks to the Mini Mushroom is Mario's inability to defend himself, just like with Small Mario one hit and its instant death, as well with Mario's much lighter weight, he is completely unable to stomp on enemies, not having his usual plumber's girth to smash Goombas to the ground. FUN FACT: The effects of the Mini Mishroom is comparable to another item in Mario's repertoire, the Poison Mushroom. However, whereas the Mini Mushroom is considered a Power-Up, the Poison Mushroom is considered a Hazard. Although useful, it is normally possible to play an entire Mario game without having to use the Mini Mushroom even once, since its effects are mostly used to find skippable secrets and items. However, the Mini Mushroom hasn't been the first time we've seen a miniature Mushroom, and whether by a well placed hammer to the head or aggressive hazard, I'm sure it won't be the last we see of Mini Mario either! ![]() Item of the week #1: Hammer Item of the week #2: Boo Mushroom Item of the week #3: Metal Cap Item of the week #4: Tanooki Suit Item of the week #5: Ice Flower Item of the week #6: Thunderbolt Item of the week #7: Coconut Gun Item of the week #8: F.L.U.D.D.
