Now, I wasn't planning on actually going after Bonetail at this time. In fact, the primary reason I was even in the Pit to begin with was to erase some graffiti a Bob-Omb had scrawled on the wall of Level 50 (long story). After I had handled that, however, I decided to go deeper. And deeper. And deeper. I kept going until I reached Level 85, and there was a Mover there who offered to advance me a further five levels down or return me to the safety of the surface. Well, I asked him to send me to Level 90, because I figured there'd be a prize and an exit pipe there (just like there is on every tenth level in the Pit). But no! Level 90 was just an ordinary level! And there were no more exits between me and Bonetail! And the enemies populating Levels 90-99 were hard! By the time I reached Bonetail, I had absolutely no recovery items or attack items left! The only things left in my Item Bag were a Spite Pouch and a Dried Shroom! I knew I was doomed, but I resolved to go down fighting. Fortunately, I had leveled up just before reaching Bonetail, so at least my stats were all maxed out. I immediately nailed him with a Supernova special attack, but it only took off 15 of his 200 HP! Discouraging, I know. So I settled into a regular pattern of nailing him with Mario's Spring Jump and Admiral Bobbery's regular attack, using Sweet Feast a couple of times to refresh myself. And I beat the son of a bitch! On my first try, with no items, I 0wned the hell out of him! That bitch was Sodom and Gomorrah, and I was thousands of flaming meteors falling from the heavens!!! Just felt like sharing. ![]() ![]() |

I love when all hope seems lost in a battle and yet you're able to beat it. I still haven't gotten down to the bottom of the Pit, even though I've had the game for a few years... hmm, I'm going to have to beat that game 100% one of these days. |

Also, screw Bobbery, Goombella is freaking strong. __________________ /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\ WON’T YOU BECOME A MAGICAL GIRL? |

Even Mario's most powerful jump attacks are reduced to half their strength by Bonetail's rock-hard skull, so don't even bother with Goombella's Headbonk. Bobbery's explosive power and high HP were quite a boon to me, however. |
