Wii (Wii, 2009) When a Koopa Troopa dies in the grip of a terrible rage, something malevolent is left behind. Wait wut? The reanimated skeleton of a deceased Koopa Troopa, Dry Bones is famous for his ability to take a licking and come back kicking. When Mario stomps on him, he'll break apart and crumble to dust. A few seconds later, however, he'll be back on his feet and chucking bones at the plucky plumber like it's going out of style. There are ways to destroy him permanently, though; a Cape Attack in Super Mario World or an icy offense in New SMB Wii will make certain this restless spirit ceases to roam the planes of the living. As well as serving as an enemy in most of Mario's adventures, Dry Bones has also appeared as a playable character in several games, including (but not limited to) Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Party 8, Mario Kart DS, and Mario Strikers Charged. Dry Bones gets his name from the popular spiritual/children's song 'Dem Bones', inspired by a miracle of resurrecting the dead in the Biblical Book of Ezekiel. And indeed, dem bones gonna walk around. |

Isn't it strange that the characters that are supposed to be considered the most sinister and dangerous are now becoming much more popular as player characters? I mean Boos started off as invincible but shy ghosts, and Drybones as resurrecting deathtraps, and now they get to play sports with Mario, ride in races, and even attend parties. I suppose as some of the most annoying enemies, Mario might have figured its better to try to make them friends and then maybe they'll stop trying to kill him! I do wonder though, Boo has gotten a lot of speaking roles and face-time lately, I wonder if Drybones will get the same soon? Maybe the next Paper Mario game will include a Drybones partner? Maybe there will be a Dry Mushroom in the next Mario Galaxy to turn Mario into a Drybones Mario? Maybe they'll start getting speaking roles? Boo's talk to mario all the time, so why not Drybones? Also . . . Drybones appeared in Mario Party 7 as a playable character before Mario Party 8. He's right next to Luigi's left side in the background. (I know ya said not limited to, but I think Drybones riding Boo is a cute picture! We should see some of those in the next New Super Mario Bros. game!) |

However, if Mario can crumble the Drybones on top of the Boo's back, Boo will suddenly lose its confidence and hide its face shaking until Drybones reforms. |
