A follow-up to 2007's Mario & Sonic At the Olympic Games (which focused on the Summer Olympics), it was developed and published by Sega (except for in Japan, where Nintendo published it). It is officially licensed by the International Olympic Committee and was the first official video game of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Both the Wii and DS versions of the game feature various characters from both the Mario and Sonic universes participating in events based on those seen in the actual Olympics, such as skiing, snowboarding, bobsledding, curling, ice hockey, and figure skating. There are realistic versions of the events, as well as more fantastic "Dream" versions that are played with items on courses inspired by locales from Mario and Sonic video games. Team Mario includes Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, Princess Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Yoshi, Bowser, Bowser Jr, and Donkey Kong, while Team Sonic is made up of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Eggman, Amy Rose, Blaze, Vector, Silver, and Metal Sonic. |

But yeah, it was a clever concept, but now they've done Summer and Winter games . . . I sorta hope its over now and they don't plan on doing this again every 4 years. EDIT: OK, looking at the videos I admit the game does look kinda fun . . . I still don't know if I'd spent 50 bucks on it, and knowing any Wii game with Mario's name on it I don't expect the price to devalue anytime soon . . . but I can certainly see the attraction, its definitely cute. RE-EDIT: I also love how the snowboarding looks like a cross between 3-D Sonic and Mario Kart! Last edited by Dark Seraphim; 02-14-2010 at 07:56 PM. |

Mario & Sonic At the Special Olympics, however, would be awesome. | |
