Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix (GCN, 2005)
Developed by Konami (the creators of the Dance Dance Revolution franchise),
Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix is a rhythm/dance game in the vein of other entries in the popular DDR series. It came packaged with a Mario-themed dance mat (though the standard GCN controller can be used in lieu of this mat), and players made Mario or Luigi dance to various songs by stepping on up, down, left, or right arrows when they lined up with a bar on the screen. The song selection consists of many recognizable Mario tunes (such as 'Fever' from
Dr. Mario, the underwater theme from
Super Mario Bros., and the overworld theme from
SMB 2), as well as some familiar works mined from the public domain (including 'Pomp and Circumstance', Mozart's 'Turkish March', and a piece from the Spanish opera
Carmen).
