The carrot was a seemingly simple item found in the SML2 game, and with it gave Mario a pair of long ears on his cap. Strangely (similar to the Raccoon Tail), these ears could be used to keep Mario elevated, flapping them like wings and somehow keeping his body afloat in the air, with enough skill, even from one end of the level to the other! This was also quite useful for positioning Mario's stomping boots over any wandering enemy, including the game's final boss, Wario, giving a sizable advantage when needing to attack. On the ground the Bunny power allowed Mario to hop continuously on the ground, albeit at the trade-off of Mario's spin jump. Although the Fire Flower was still the game's primary offensive item the Carrot had a multitude of tactile uses in mobility and offensive applications, making a very useful power-up indeed! Mario has transformed into a lot of animal shapes over the years, Penguin, Raccoon, Turtle, Bee, and each time every pair of animal ears that adorn Mario's signature cap come with a multitude of useful abilities. The Bunny Carrot was no exception, as it made the platforming in Super Mario Land 2 a breeze . . . although like with many animal themed power-ups its unlikely we'll see too much of the carrot again, it was still an enjoyable element of the game and should be fondly remembered! ![]() (Check out Rabbit Mario and Rabbit Wario in the carrot's debut game!)
