I said I would agree with most anything that Nintendo would ever do. And Nintendo dissociates itself with the SMB movie about as much as it does the Mother series.

Nintendo is not the company it entered the industry as, since the company you're referring to is the one that licensed the film flop. Things change. That's the point. At the point where it was announced, there was no reason to assume that Nintendo would let the ball drop. They did; it was their franchise, and they didn't get involved.

The company tries changes, and not always for the better. Much of the GCN's life span was riddled with awkward execution, internally. There were solid titles, though, in the licensing area. F-Zero GX was actually written by Sega, but it provided. Wario World was licensed through Treasure. Metroid Prime was licensed through Retro. Etc.

I think you really mean that you trust them not to serve up something horrible they've had cooking? That's reasonable. They're certainly trying not to release anything blatantly awful like the SMB movie was.
