In SMG2, head over to Shiverburn Galaxy. Turn left, and go into first-person view. Look up at the top of the cliffs and you'll see...these guys!

A GoNintendo member did some hacking and discovered that it's in the sky model, called "BeyondHellValleySky". The figures themselves are "HellValleySkyTree".

Freaky, eh?

My guess is that they were made for a Galaxy called "Hell Valley", but then scrapped. Not wanting to let the texture go to waste, they snuck it into Shiverburn.

Perhaps the Japanese name for Shiverburn Galaxy was Hell Valley Galaxy or something. That's not completely impossible, the Japanese name for Melty Molten Galaxy in the first game was "Hell's Prominade" or something like that.
