Raphael the Raven

First Appearance: SMW 2: Yoshi's Island (Super NES, 1995)
Latest Appearance: Super Princess Peach (DS, 2006)

Raphael the Raven first appeared in SMW 2: Yoshi's Island, as the final boss of World 5. He and Yoshi dueled furiously back and forth across the surface of a tiny moon floating in the night sky above Yoshi's Island. Upon his defeat, Raphael tumbles from the moon and transforms into a bright, twinkling constellation of stars.

Like many characters from Yoshi's Island, Raphael would go on to appear in Tetris Attack for the Super NES and Game Boy.

Raphael's next appearance was an extreme departure from his previous major role. In 2001's Paper Mario, Raphael appeared in the role of a benevolent guardian deity watching over the Yoshis of Lavalava Island, and he assisted Mario and friends in accessing the volcano in which the fifth Star Spirit was imprisoned.

Most recently, Raphael appeared (in his more diminutive form) as an enemy character in Super Princess Peach.

Raphael's theme in PM was awesome. Plus, he gives you that cool red orb thing. And his little raven baby things got me into Mt. Lavalava.

So he wins, despite being a pain in Tetris Attack.
