He is extremely useful, as his pointed bill can dispatch most aquatic enemies with ease. When you're up to your neck in bobbing jellyfish, spinning starfish, and exploding blowfish, having Enguarde on your team as you navigate the crystal clear lagoons of DK Island is just as comforting as having a Fire Flower when attempting to make your way through the Blooper-filled waterways of the Mushroom Kingdom. Enguarde also appears in the Gloomy Galleon level of Donkey Kong 64. If Lanky Kong finds a special Enguarde Crate, he'll transform into the swordfish. Enguarde can be used to leap high up out of the water, or to break open sturdy treasure chests. Enguarde's latest appearance comes in the form of a sub-aquatic steed in Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast. It is unknown whether Enguarde will be appearing in the upcoming Donkey Kong Country Returns. However, since the developers have gone on record as saying there will be no underwater levels, it's not looking too likely. |

Still, it's not impossible without him. He was always helpful regardless. |
