Been thinking about doing an LP.

...of a Mario game. I've never done one before, but I'm sufficiently bored so it's probably something I'd be able to get done over a few weekends.

A couple of months ago I was actually working on a Let's Play of Super Mario RPG, but due to a certain incident I lost all the video files I had recorded, and since then I've been discouraged from doing another one. But now I feel like taking baby steps, so I might do a LP if I find the right game.

The games I've thought of so far are all games that I haven't played in a while, and they're also a bit on the short end (easier on me). Right now all I have listed are Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES, or the All-Stars or Advance remakes), Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (both Game Boy), Yoshi's Safari (SNES), and Mario & Wario (Super Famicon; I've actually never played this one but I wouldn't mind trying). I would need to use an emulator, because the only tools I have for recording are all computer-based. I'd also prefer not to do 3D games, since my computer has a hard time with those (because it sucks), and also because controls for 3D console games are usually balls on a computer keyboard. But I suppose I could make exceptions. (I would actually like to do a Super Mario 64 LP sometime.)

If there's a game in particular you'd like me to LP, just post here and I'll keep a tally of what everyone thinks. Also, if you have any suggestions for games you'd want me to LP that I didn't mention, feel free to share.

Just not SMRPG. I still haven't gotten over the heartbreak.

I'd go with Yoshi's Safari or Mario and Wario.

Electricalbeast did SM64. What's strange is that it was so over the top, so unbelievable, so BRITISH, it was actually rather enjoyable.

BillyMC will always be associated with Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels. There's no denying it.

For extra lawlz, watch the Retsupurae on Cornshaq's SMB2 play through and learn what not to do.

MARIO PICROSS.

Seriously though, how about Yoshi's Safari? It's an underrated game as far as Mario goes.

I was actually thinking of doing an LP, too. The original SMB series for the NES hasn't been done that much, so I was thinking about doing some of those....only I don't know how to do an LP. Maybe we could sort of work on something together and try to support each other? -CSM

It's hard to do a proper Let's Play for SMB1, since it's so short & straightforward.

^That's why you start with short games. I'd think you'd want to wait until you have a small following before doing epic, long games, or at least are known by some LPers who have decent followings but aren't big names (one of my favorites is Dario8676; I wouldn't do a big game until I at least have a connection with him). Another thing I'd consider starting out with is doing a restricted challenge on a well known game (for example, I completed FFVI using only Terra; if I started with a big game I'd start with that and then do a normal FFVI LP once I get a mid size following of maybe about 250 people). -CSM

I'm pretty sure there's an unspoken rule about doing an LP of Super Mario Bros. AKA don't do an LP of Super Mario Bros. It's been played way too many times to get any type of attention nowadays. I'm pretty sure just about everyone with a Wii has it on Virtual Console.

And no, you don't have to start small. Deceasedcrab pretty much started Youtube LPs with freaking La Mulana. Hell, the first LP ever was apparently Metal Gear 2, done by Slowbeef. (Correct me if I'm wrong, SA goons)

Also, Val started with a Dwarf Fortress LP, that's pretty much as large as you can get.

So do you need any help choosing the track arrangement because a lot of people put all the downtempo stuff together and the uptempo stuff together and that's a big mistake because you need variation to keep things interesting.
