WTF? What is up with that game? It is so....so....so.......horrible! The story, the courses, the play was ok, but anyway...It was horrible! I just started a new file and I haven't played in the longest time so I forgot a lot of it..but..AHH! It's the EXACT same story as SMW!! Mario and Peach go on vacation, Mario goes off to do something, Peach gets kidnapped,Mario goes to save her and Bowser has his kid right there by him!! EXACTLY THE SAME! Except it's stupider and in 3-D! I mean, some of the characters in this game..*cough Junior cough* How gulable can you get?! Geez.....I liked that game until Episode 1 in Pinna Park...Well..anyway..what did you guys think of it? |

I find Super Mario Sunshine a fun and challenging platform game. Sure it is not as good as the other Mario games out there, but it definitely does not suck. Also, quick word of warning, if any of you start a flame war over this, this topic will be closed faster than it takes to beat Luigi's Mansion. SOme of those shine sprites are VERY frustrating and unneccessary though. (*coughPachinkoGamecough*) Also, the Blue Coin hunting gets annoying and tedious and I've had enough of all the Red Coin challenges. There are like 3 Red Coin Challenges on every level, gimme a break. |

Anyway, I thought Super Mario Sunshine was all right. The storyline is the same as always: Princess Peach is kidnapped by Bowser and Mario saves her. I doubt it's going to change anytime soon. Sure, it was cool during its time, but now Nintendo needs something new and original. And Mario cleans up slops of mud or whatever that junk is... That wasn't all that creative to me. :/ | |

Toadsworth's was decent. And when it came to bosses(especially the last one, with Bowser), they were just too damn easy. But the get all the blue coins was a very good challenge, however. |

Therefore this game would rock, but no. It is SMW, SM64, and LM without the Mario elements. YOu are on some weird island cleaning up mud. I wanna stomp a goomba, not do community service. I mean come on I think Princess could of gotten Mario off just by being a foreign leader. They also could of hired a lawyer or presented a defense other than "objection." The gameplay was furstarating too. It was hard to aim the water and you had to waste water doing it. On the plus side amazing graphics (that water so real). |

I mean sure there were a couple tough courses that you might of had to replay once more, but other than that it was pretty straight forward and simple. Other than the fairly unanimous decision about the bosses being too weak, I thought it was a pretty good game. Though personally I think mario should have had more time on yoshi... eh |

(PACHINCKO GAME ANYONE?) Oh, and I severely disliked teh Watermelon festival on Gelato Beach. My watermelon kept popping! |

In fact I think they should bring F.L.U.D.D back in future games as a power up, like Yoshi. I do agree that some challenges are WAY too easy. The first part in the volcano where you have to steer that boat is near impossible. Oh and the voice actor for Peach has been the same for a while. Graphics: 4.9/5 I WANT TO LIVE IN GELATO BEACH!! Gameplay: 3.5/5 Fun Sound: 4/5 Catchy Tunes Overall: 3.5/5 We need more F.L.U.D.D [ August 13, 2004, 11:56 AM: Message edited by: OMG LOL LOL LOL I FonD a MunkEE ] |

It's too bad that FLUDD will probably fall into the background of inactive characters along with Goombario and the Paper Mario gang, Mallow and Geno, and the Koopakids who are doomed to never to have any dialogue. I still want to see a tag-team Mario and Luigi in 3D. The Poltergust 3000 and FLUDD work so similarly that the Mario and Luigi could branch off with different and similar strengths. A true platformer. That would be cool. And what if it was two player? I didn't like Peach's voice acting that much either. I think Bowser's was fine; it was a heck of a lot better than the random grunts of the Mario Kart games. Super Mario Sunshine is one of my least favorite Mario platformers. I thought Luigi's mansion was worse, mainly because it was so short, you couldn't jump, and the other controls weren't that great either. I think Super Mario sunshine would be so much better if they had the level system of SM64. SM64 had the levels in great amounts, they were all classics, and they were either in plain sight on the main floor or hidden somewhere in the castle. In SMS the levels were all pretty easy to get to (The only one I had trouble with was the pinapple pipe; I didn't think to have Yoshi eat it at first.) There were only two times I ever looked at a guide. Once was to see how many stars I had to get before I got to the last level. Second to see if there was anything else worth doing after the game was won, or if getting all 120 stars would net me a cool prize. The answer to both is NO. I give it points because it still retains a lot of that Mario charm. The controls are really good, I love that spin jump, FLUDD is a cool innovation(although the nozzle system could have been designed much better IMO), the basic 8 stars all were about as fun as in SM64, if not a little easy, and the last boss was fun even if I could win it on the first try if I really tried. In short, it has many dissapointing features. But many redeeming qualities, too. I didn't even list some of them, though, because you EXPECT them to be present in a Mario game and that's the problem. I'm going to play a game of SMS when I'm done with what I'm doing right now, I think. |

I don't hear anybody complaining about rescuing Princess Zelda in the Zelda games. You have to admit, it's the most original plot a Platformer's had. Sure, the Princess gets kidnapped, but its' by someone else, Mario's got a task to perform, and you even start by thwarting the kidnapping, and she's there for nearly half the game. That's at least as intricate as SMB3's plot. I wasn't all that thrilled with some of the voice acting, either. I liked Peach's voice in SSB:M, if I had a choice... Peach here sounded vaguely stoned. And Bowser. I know, I know. Hey, maybe they'll change him, too. But the game itself merely suffered from SMW Syndrome. It followed on the heels of a massively successful, world-breaking hit, like SMW, with nothing other than a graphics and engine upgrade. Frankly, I thought this game, like SMW, was bloody brilliant. The Pachinko Machine, the FLUDD, the events, the mini-games, the River Sticks (the poison river you float down on a deteriorating leaf? Named after the River Styx), the Sand Bird level, the OVergrown Yard, and the Classic FLUDDless levels (my personal favorites). Oh, and Yoshi in 3-D. The Final Battle was easy, sure, but that's not exactly new either. It was at least as hard as SM64 or any other platformer. As soon as Nintendo thinks of something really new, your jaws willd drop again, and neither story nor sound nor graphics will bother you. Until then... enjoy the Sunshine. |
