Mario Baseball to feature 50 playable characters? - Page 2

No, he really does. I mean, they keep cycling and adding more boring stupid characters with boring stupid personalities.

I could end it right here, but no: I must write a detailed description of why they are stupid and boring.

First Donkey Kong + Diddy Kong. A team. No problem there.

Then Diddy Kong + Dixie Kong. So Donkey's kidnapped for the duration of a game. No problem, right?

Then Dixie Kong + Kiddy Kong? Don't we already have enough characters by now? Apparently not, because next we have...

Donkey Kong + Diddy Kong + Tiny Kong + Lanky Kong + Chunky Kong? WTF? While the return of Donkey and Diddy was nice, but they screwed up again by removing Dixie and replacing her with another ponytail wielding monkey. And if we didn't have enough oddly colored monkey sidekicks now we have Lanky.

Chunky wasn't too bad, though. He was the funniest one. Since the intelligence of Donkey Kong decreased (he talks in third person during DK64), we probably didn't need any more stupid screw-up monkeys. So of course Rare gave us two.

If Rare were still here today and not eaten by Microsoft, I'd say that they should toss out characters like Kiddy and Lanky who were just annoying and characters like Tiny who were just ripoffs of other characters.

Then make Donkey Kong the hero, keep Diddy as the plucky sidekick, bring back Dixie because games are seriously lacking in female characters and because Dixie's hair spinning attack was an awesome way to get from place to place, and possibly add Chunky as the comic relief. But if they keep dumbing down Donkey, they'd probably reach a point where Chunky and Donkey had personalities too similar to have them both stay around. Then of course the one with the name driving the whole series stays and Chunky Kong fades into obscurity.

As for Kiddy, he didn't really have any unique attacks or anything interesting about him. I think they were pushing it when they added a character who doesn't seem to be more than a female version of Dixie, but once you get past the part where Kiddy is a baby there is nothing original or interesting about Kiddy.

How pointless and overly long.

^I completley agree with that. Kiddy and Lanky SUCKED. Kiddy was a baby clone of DK, complete with DK's signature roll attack. His main gimmicks were being a baby, and being fat. Lanky's gimmick was being a stupid clown orangutan. Oops! Allow me to correct myself. A stupid clown orangutan with STRETCHY ARMS! Wow! We've got ourselves an ape equivalent to Waluigi, only worse! Tiny would have been alright with me, but she technically killed off Dixie! I loved Dixie. Rare must have seriously been drunk/high when they chose to replace Dixie with Tiny. I loved Chunky Kong, though. His antics were pretty funny..Well, to me atleast. I admit it. I laughed when he kneeled in horror, begging the Fungi Forest boss to spare him. I laughed when he screeched, as butterflies flew onto him. And I laughed the first time I saw him point to Tiny in the tag barrel. DK and Diddy were awesome though. In DK64, I only enjoyed playing as DK, Diddy, and Chunky. Tiny had a incredibly hard boss (Jack-In-The-Box), and she was slow and weak.
Lanky was fast, and jumped high, but his moves were awful. TWO of Cranky's three potions for Lanky involved handstanding. We understood it in the DK rap. He can handstand. You don't have to give 2 variations of it. Plus, he had to super tough races. So, Nintendo. Don't make the same mistake Rare did. Keep only the helper Kongs (Candy, Funky, Wrinkly, Cranky, and maybe Swanky.), plus DK, Diddy, Dixie, and Chunky.
And try to make it like Lanky and Tiny never existed. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Yes. Chunky definitly should be in it. He'd be a great power player. Stronger but slower than DK. DK hits the ball with a boxing glove, and Chunky could have too. Lanky should explode, Dixie should shoot Tiny, and Kiddy should fall down a bottomless pit.

They did try to tie in the new characters, Tiny was Dixie's sis or something and Chunky was Kiddy's brother. Lanky never made any sense, but he was my favorite.

Bandit's got the right idea. But I liked Swanky. Swanky is pretty awesome. C'mon. How can you not like a big ape with annoyingly bright teeth, a suit, a whole bunch of gold rings and named "Swanky Kong". Awesome. O'course, you can't get rid of winners like Cranky. Cranky's pretty awesome.

I actually liked Mad Jack, though. He really filled the whole "Boss" position nicely. He was funny, his attacks followed exact patterns, and he became invisible as you fought on. And he sounded like Donald Duck. But it would have been better if Dixie fought that battle. Dixie has a pink rare cap. That monkey was stylin'. Rainbow cap? Pah.
