Mario Kills Tanooki

http://features.peta.org/mario-kills-tanooki/

Quote:
When on a mission to rescue the princess, Mario has been known to use any means necessary to defeat his enemy—even wearing the skin of a raccoon dog to give him special powers.

Tanooki may be just a "suit" in Mario games, but in real life, tanuki are raccoon dogs who are skinned alive for their fur. By wearing Tanooki, Mario is sending the message that it's OK to wear fur. Play Super Tanooki Skin 2D and help Tanooki reclaim his fur!
Everything PETA does makes them seem more and more like an elaborate Poe. The game's kind of fun, though.

I'd rather play something like this than listen to another pointless rant, honestly.

Then again, it isn't like Mario actually skins a Tanooki or anything, he just gets a suit for it and boom, done.

^Yeah but where does the suit come from? Obviously it was provided by a tankui-skinning Toad corporation that wanted to look good in the public eye. Good on PETA, looking between the lines like this.

edit: and no one say anything baseless like "the tanooki is from Japanese folklore you scum" or something, you'll just expose yourself as an animal-hater.

You know, all the peta games tend to be really gory, and sick. Do you think they're just pretending to be all noble and charitible, but they're actually just sick and twisted people?

They're going to be in a world of hurt if Nintendo decides to sue them.

They made a game that actually had Mario in it at one point awhile ago so I'm not sure if Nintendo really cares enough.

Well, there's something to be said for not paying attention to them. Nintendo probably thinks there would be too much negative publicity involved in suing an animal-friendly organization that runs shelters with the highest euthanasia rates in the US, or something stupid like that.

What's funny is that Mario has been stepping on, kicking, and throwing turtle shells much more than he's been 'skinning' racoons.

Yeah, I thought that much was obvious. I mean, beside them being kind of a demon army according to Japanese lore. But, you know, since we're disregarding that.

I still fail to see how taking potshots at Mario is going to stop the Japanese from deciding it's okay to kill everything as long as they gain from it. You'd think they'd come down on something like Monster Hunter, considering most things you kill are animals minding their own business.

PETA is 20+ years late to the party. When's the last time PETA has done something remotely useful for animals? The only campaign of theirs that's worthwhile is the circus one. -CSM

^^How popular is Monster Hunter in the West? It's a hit in Japan but I'm not sure if it's that popular over here which might explain something. Though, PETA took a shot at Super Meat Boy so who knows.
