Deathmatch #3: Koopa Troopa vs. Shy Guy

Welcome to another fantastic Deathmatch! This week's matchup is between two of Mario's most commonly-encountered foes.

In the green corner is the toddling turtle, Bowser's bread and butter, Koopa Troopa!

Appearances: Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, et al
+ Comes in winged, fat, armored, giant, superpowered, explosive, undead, invincible, and naked varieties.
+ Their shells protect them from being killed by a jump, and when kicked they can be quite a threat to anything in their path.
+ Yoshi can eat their shells to gain special powers, and other times Mario can surf on their shells.
+ Although they normally work for Bowser, some of them are pretty nice.

And in the red corner is the masked entity found on Yoshi's Island, in toy boxes, and even our dreams, Shy Guy!

Appearances: Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story, Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, et al
+ Comes in flying, bouncing, fat, tall, flaming, deadly, tribal, swashbuckling, undead, and aquatic varieties.
+ They don't always take orders from Bowser or Wart, and have a military heirarchy of their own.
+ They spawn endlessly from pipes.
+ They're never seen without their masks, adding to their mystery.
- They can be killed with a stomp, and when that doesn't work they're easily picked up and thrown around.

Those are the combatants. Which one will take the gold?

If Paper Mario has taught me anything, it's that Shy Guys probably have an advantage here.

I've always liked the design of the Koopa Troopa. Seeing everyone prefer the Shy Guy has ruined my day.

Looks like I accidentally added an extra day to the pool. Oh well. The winner, by 7-4, if Shy Guy!

Poor Koopa Troopa got no support during the first half of the week. Even his second-half surge wasn't enough.

I think Koopa Troopas are cool but ShyGuys are just ADORABLE!!!!!

I cast my lot for the Koopa. It can at least throw itself at something while in its shell. Shy Guys are so harmless you can just perch on their heads and pick them up whenever.
