Secret Character Unlock Method Topic (SPOILERS)

All right, people, this is the only warning you're going to get. We're going t be talking about the unlocking method for secret characters: list them, and I'll edit them into this post if they're confirmed.

This is mainly here for characters that haven't been added to the Dojo yet (Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, Wolf, etc.).

One thing I wanna know is how do you unlock Jigglypuff? Every site on the internet quotes the Japanese method of unlocking her by beating Classic Mode, but that's horse pucky.

Also I unlocked Sonic without realizing it, so a bit of explanation there would be good too.

Let's get cracking.

Anyone who joins your Subspace Emissary party is immediately unlocked. Sonic is the last character to join the story, and he's completely optional for your party, so you have to make the conscious decision to choose him.

Certain characters can be found in secret rooms in SSE (I think just Jiggly and Wolf), and then battled for the unlock.

And of course, playing whatever # of multiplayer bouts will unlock anyone.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Right, but I've unlocked everyone except for Toon Link, Wolf, and Jiggs - I've never touched SSE, and I haven't come close to fighting the prerequisite number of fights for anyone except for Ness. No idea how I got Sonic.

All characters can also be unlocked in SSE.

Jigglypuff: 350 VS matches

Captain Falcon: Beat Classic in 12 minutes or less then defeat him in the following match or 70 VS matches

Sonic: Complete the Subspace Emissary or 300 VS matches

Luigi: Complete Classic Mode on Easy without continues or meet him in SSE or 22 VS matches

Snake: Play 15 matches on Shadow Moses Island or 130 VS matches

Lucario: Defeat in SSE with Meta Knight or Complete 5 Target Tests with any character or 100 VS matches

Ness: Play five matches OR Reflect ten projecticles AND meet Ness in SSE.

Falco: Beat 100-man brawl or play 50 VS matches

Mr. Game & Watch: Beat classic mode with every character or 250 VS matches

Toon Link: Finish the Classic mode as Link or 400 VS matches
Wolf: In the stage "Iseki" (Ruins) skip the first door you pass when being lowered in to the pit. Instead enter the second door at the bottom or 450 VS matches

R.O.B. (Robot): OR get 250 different Trophies OR get R.O.B. to join your party in SSE

Ganondorf: Clear Classic on Hard with Link or Zelda OR play 200 VS. matches

Marth: Play 10 Brawls OR finish Classic on any difficulty OR get Marth in the SSE

I still need Jiggs, Sonic, Toon Link, Wolf, G&W, and R.O.B. Damn.

I did neither of those and I got Ganondorf. [EDIT: Wait, does Sheik from start to finish, never changing once, count as Zelda? Because if so, nevermind.]

Damn, it looks like the unlock system is screwed.

Kenny also got Sonic and has no idea how.

The first toon link one is false, i just did it, no toon link.

did you get those from gamefaqs? I heard some of those were faulty

ANother way to unlock Sonic is to beat Classic Mode with 10 different characters. *cough*

As for Toon Link, you can get him by beat classic mode with Link, after you've beaten SSE.

actually the first method for toon link is a little off same with jiggleypuff, in order to get toon link and jiggs, you HAVE to clear SSE. then after that's done clear classic with link to fight and obtain toon link and then clear it again with anyone else but link or ike to fight and unlock jiggs, I found that out the hard way today.

^I thought Toon Link was actually located back in the forest when you first encounter Link. But, I don't know, that's just what I've heard.

wolf is in SSE in the ruins stage. at the bottom of the vertical shaft where you ride the platform down while spikes shoot out from the walls (just past the auto-scrolling section with the deathtrap minecart at the end). instead of taking the door where the platform stops, let the platform disappear and fall to the bottom of the shaft. there's a door there at the base of the shaft, go through that and you will have a 1 on 1 duel with wolf o'donnel, defeat him and he will join you.

but as far as I know the other two, toon link and jiggs, can only be obtained by beating classic with link (for toon link) and anyone but link and ike (for jiggs) AFTER CLEARING SSE.

I just said you have to clear SSE FIRST. THEN, play through classic with anyone BUT link and ike in order to take on jigglypuff.

I did this. He wasn't there.

Jigglypuff -- Stage #18 after you beat SSE (forest level by the ocean in centre of map)
Toon Link -- Stage #9 after you beat SSE (forest level towards the bottom of the map)
Wolf -- Stage #14 after you beat SSE (tower level just south of Jigg's stage) or complete Boss Rush

I haven't unlocked them yet, mind, but that's what I read. I'm still just a few bosses shy of unlocking Sonic on Stage #31.

course when I unlocked wolf I had already beaten mr. big bad final boss and then went back to the ruins because when I originally wanted to unlock wolf the ruins had been destroyed by one of those sub-space bombs, so I had to go back after cleaning house in the final maze.
