Suggestions were no longer being taken as of June 9, 2006. The most requested third-party character, Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog, was announced to be in Brawl on October 10, 2007, though the decision to have him in the game was made earlier that year.

^Poor Mother recognition PERIOD. From what I can gather there are fewer than 10 trophies related to the entire series.

Mother was one of the few series to have one of their characters be a boss in the SSE. Instead of getting to battle King K. Rool, Dr. Eggman, or an Emperor Bulblax, we got to fight Pokey.

Also, the Mother series has 9 trophies. The Fire Emblem series also has 9 trophies. But did Fire Emblem get a boss? More than one stage? Any items? Nope. More like poor Fire Emblem recognition.

^I actually am pissed about the lack of DK and Fire Emblem recognition. Although the DK can be blamed on stupid Bill Gates and Steve "F***ing Kill" Balmer buying out Rare.

Fire Emblem needs more recognition, too. They took that masterpiece out, and they needed to bring Roy back. We all want to learn more.

Kid Icarus definitely needs more recognition, too.

Metroid did have a boss though, to be fair. Two bosses actually.

As for what series they did this to, it was probably Pokemon. That series got way more than its worth. I'm already on my fourth Pokemon trophy page while a lot of series are still stuck on two, including, of all series, MARIO. As an oldschooler, I'd expect to see a lot of Mario stuff. But it seems like Nintendo invests too heavily on Pokemon (which for some reason I don't know became a cash cow considering it was forced onto us). I mean, during the N64 years they left Metroid AND Kirby alone until the first SSB so they could make more Pokemons (and the only reason I think Kirby came back is because SSB is done by the great Masahiro Sakurai, who also made Kirby). -CSM

Roy was pretty lame in the game he was in, he can stay away. Bring in Hector! Hector!

I don't know why you people say EB was underrepresented when It has One more character then Metroid does, a Huge Huge stage that you can tell an ungodly amount of effort went into, an old stage, some good music, 2 items, just as many trophys as some other series got (About as many as all of the not-incredibility mainstream series, liek F-zero), a ton of stickers, and a ridiculous amount of SSE screen-time, including a boss and a psuedo boss.

I will admit that most of this stuff is from mother 3, which is like a slap to the face considering its not out in america, but in its defense a large amount of the series representation in brawl comes from thier most recent games. (see: zelda)

EDIT: Actually F-zero got like 7 trophys total, Earthbound has more.

Itoi distinctly said he wasn't going to do Mother 4, and wasn't hiding anything the way Reggie is (he seems to be a one man crusade against the game since the fans, the video game media (except IGN), and many of his underlings want Mother in the US. Part of the reason I blame Reggie was because when Earthbound 64 was in production it was planned to have a US release, and Reggie wasn't president at the time). -CSM

Kirby finally got his due by adding Meta and D3, something people had always been expecting. I mean the only thing left to add is Waddle Dee.

Pokemon has been Nintendo's biggest profit next to Mario, they're not just going to ignore it. If you've managed to keep your game going through two generation s of kids, I don't think you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, but that wasn't scrapped because of fear that it wouldn't sell well.

And the only reason Pokemon did so well is because when they released the original set of games, they also IMMEDIATELY released the anime, the toys, the comics, the Tamogachi pet, the works. In other words, they shoved it down our throats. -CSM
