What's going on with my controls?

It seems that everytime I turn on the game, something is going wonky with my controller. I'm always using the CC, but recently strange things have been going on. It's begun to ignore the CC's existence, making me unable to move or stuff, which is obviously VERY irritating during a battle. Sometimes when I pause, the "instructions" on the pause screen switch between the CC's and the Wii-motes.

What the hell is going on? Is there any way to make sure it works, so I don't have to worry about losing a battle because of a sudden control shift?

Check the connection?
Change the batteries?
Call Nintendo?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Battery seems fine. It doesn't do things like this at lower levels, anyway.

Connection I may have to check.

Calling Nintendo might be a bit drastic.
